Iowa Falls, IA – Fifth-ranked Southeastern Community College (21-6, 6-0) rallied to win game one versus Ellsworth Community College, 11-10 and dominated game two by a 16-4 final.
Combined, the Blackhawk bats racked up a combined 32 hits to go with their 27 runs in the two-game set. During the opener, the Panthers built a six-run lead on the back on a seven-run second inning, but the pitching staff was unable to hold off the SECC offense. The Blackhawks tallied two in the third and four in the fourth to tie the game at 7-7.
The host nine regained the advantage at 10-9 entering the top of the seventh, but SECC pushed across the tying and go-ahead run off relief arm Dominic Wade for an 11-10 lead.
ECC (15-13, 2-5) could not manufacture a run to give the visitors an 11-10 lead.
Offensively, Boston Doeschot stayed hot at the plate with a 3-4 performance that included a pair of two-baggers and three RBI. Caden Sammler was 2-4 with a double and two runs knocked in.
Starting pitcher Jakob Nachreiner threw the first 3.1 innings and allowed six runs - five of them earned. He also allowed a pair of homers during his time on the bump. ECC utilized five pitchers in the seven-inning game. Wade was saddled with the loss after completing his one inning of work in the seventh.
In the nightcap, SECC's offense produced six round-trippers as part of their 15-hit performance in a 16-4 win.
The Panthers led the game 2-0 after one frame and 4-2 following three complete before the Blackhawks took control. The visitors plated five in the fourth and five in the sixth of the nine-inning game. They booked four additional runs in the eighth for insurance.
Five more pitchers were used by the hosts in game two, and the first one in relief - Tripp Rawlings - took the loss after allowing five earned runs. Eric McGill paced ECC at the plate with two hits and two runs scored. Riley Schrader drove in two runs and was 1-2 at the dish.
