MCC loses 4th in a row
MCC comes up short versus Mott 76-63.
December 21, 2024
The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks were defeated in a back-and-forth game by the Mott Community College Bears 76-63. The Jayhawks and the Bears brought intensity on both sides of the ball in the first half, but a strong shooting performance and points off Muskegon turnovers had Mott leading Muskegon 43-38 heading into halftime.
Mott stepped up the pressure defensively in the second half, forcing more Jayhawk turnovers and holding the Jayhawks' top performers of the night at bay. The Bears team defense was the driving factor behind the Jayhawks getting outscored 25-33 in a slower paced second half. Despite the loss, Jayhawk sophomore Kevon Washington led the team in scoring with 21 points. Sophomore Joe Russau added 14 points, ten rebounds and two blocks. The loss moved the Jayhawks record to 6-6. The Jayhawks hope to extinguish their losing record in their second and final game of the Mott Roundball Classic against Lakeland Community College. The game is scheduled for 3 PM on December 21st at Mott Community College.
