The Cyclones started with some fire in their matchup with Triton College but lost some momentum in the ultimate 87-70 loss at home.
To start the game, Moraine Valley jumped to a lead, putting up eight points in two minutes. However, once the Trojans found their rhythm, they surged ahead. At the end of the first quarter, the Cyclones were down 19-11.
The second quarter is when the Cyclones found their stride, including a string of three-pointers from Olivia Baxa (three), Deniza Fuentes (two) and Isabel Lopez (one) plus two buckets a piece from Jadea Johnson and Shakila Brownlow. One of Brownlow's free throws gave the Cyclones a brief lead. By halftime, the Cyclones collected 32 points and only trailed 46-43.
The second half was rough for Moraine Valley as the Trojans continued driving to the basket while forcing Cyclone turnovers. The Cyclones only scored 27 points, but were able to hold the Trojans to 11 in the fourth quarter. A couple of steals by Robin Stevenson near the end of the game gave the Cyclones a short run but not enough to overcome the deficit.
