Jayhawks Dominate on Defense in 74-45 Win

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball team extended their winning streak to six games with a 74-45 win over visiting Cuyahoga Community College Wednesday night.

The Jayhawks were locked in on defense, holding Cuyahoga to just seven points in the first quarter.

Jamestown scored 11, capped by Mbali Mhlanga, who scored 17 on the night.

JCC took that four-point advantage to the second quarter.

The Jayhawk advantage ballooned to double-digits on five quick points from a three from Jennica Berens, who led all scorers with 23, followed by a Mhlanga layup to put JCC up 11.

Jamestown would take a 13-point edge to half.

Cuyahoga cut the deficit down to seven early in the third before a 9-0 run from JCC made it 42-26.

Myla Truitt did much of the damage during the home team's spurt.

The Jayhawks cruised from there in the 74-45 win. JCC is now 10-2 on the year.

They hit the road next to Orange County Community College on Saturday, January 18th, at noon.
