Softball: Raiders Open 2025 Season

The Central Community College softball team started the 2025 season with a split against the Morningside University JV. A recap of each game is below. 

Game 1: Morningside JV 10  CCC 4

The Raiders led 3-1 after two innings before the Mustangs put on a scoring clinic in the fouth, fifth and sixth innings. In those respective innings, Morningside scored two, three and four runs to post the 10-4 win.

Kami Kaskie led CCC with three hits in four at bats. Lily Krajewski, Ava Steinke, and Kaskie each drove in one run. Jordyn Trotta also collected two hits in three at bats. Krajewski paced the opener with two walks. Scorers for CCC were Trotta, Haley Johnson, Danica Taylor, and L. Krajewski.

Freshman Braelyn Sindelar started for the Raiders in the circle, pitching all six innings and giving up three earned runs. The Raiders defense gave up five errors in the game one loss.


Game 2: CCC 11  Morningside JV 1

The Raider opened the second game with a 3-1 lead after the second inning and never looked back. CCC added four runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth en route to the 10-point win.

Trotta led CCC with three hits in four at bats. Krajewski and Taylor each drove in three runs and Kaskie collected two hits in four at bats. Taylor also contributed a solo homerun in the second inning to get the scoring started. Shayla Sullivan earned the win, surrendering six hits and one earned run over five innings.

"We were excited to kick off the season with a young and gritty team," said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. "With only two returning players with experience, our team is learning and growing together. Though our first game didn't go our way, we used it as a learning experience, adjusted, and came back stronger in our second game."

With the split, the Raiders are 1-1 to start the season.
