LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball dropped this weekend's series to No. 24 Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC). The Bobcats outscored the Lakehawks 21-4 in three games.
Game 1 – PHSC 8, Lake-Sumter 0
Pasco-Hernando shutout Lake-Sumter in game one on Friday evening outhitting the Lakehawks 13 hits to three. Edwin Melendez, Tanner Reid, and Joelevis Fernandez Angeles were the only Lakehawks to reach on hits.
Tad Brooks and Christian Cantwell drew one walk each.
Riley Fitzegerald recorded the loss on the mound with 2.1 innings pitched moving to 1-1 on the season. He allowed eight runs, only four earned, on five hits and two walks.
Game 2 – PHSC 3, Lake-Sumter 1
The Lakehawks kept game two close after a Bobcat homerun in the top of the third inning.
Brooks scored on a sacrifice fly from Mason Blackburn in the bottom of the seventh but the Lakehawks were unable to manufacture more, recording their second loss of the weekend.
Jack Johnson recorded the loss on the mound with 4.2 innings pitched. He allowed three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.
Ethon Tesmer entered the game in the fifth to toss 2.1 shutout innings.
Game 3 – PHSC 10, Lake-Sumter 3
Eli Thurmond went 2-for-4 with one run scored. Brooks went 2-for-3 with a walk, one run scored, and one RBI.
Camden Williamson, Andrew Merchant, and Osjun Rivas had one hit each.
Fabian Romero recorded the loss on the mound with 4.2 innings pitched. He allowed seven runs on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Lake-Sumter moves to a 15-8 overall record and a 3-3 record in conference. The Lakehawks now tie for third in conference standing.
