Larsen Leads Lions Over Lackawanna

North Branch, NJ - The RVCC Women's Basketball team moved to 2-2 in Region XIX play and 4-4 overall thanks to a career high 31 points from Freshman Sophia Larsen. Larsen drilled 5 triples as the Lions ousted the visiting Falcons 79-65 on Tuesday night.

The Lions were down 4 after the first frame and 6 going into halftime, but were able to tie up the score after the third period. Not only did the Lions come out on fire offensively in the fourth, but they had their best defensive period of the night, only allowing the Falcons 7 total points. Julia Fontanillo once again stuffed the stat sheet for the Lions as she had 16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Freshman, Ona Riopedre, also tied Fontanillo with 16 points on the night and was one of four Lions to hit at least 2 three pointers. Elizabeth May finished the night with 8 points, 6 from behind the arc, and Telma Comba contributed four points and 7 boards.

This is the Lions' third win in a row over the Falcons, which is the program's longest winning streak over the Region XIX foe from Scranton. The Lions return to action on Saturday, December 7th when they travel to take on the Mighty Oaks from Salem Community College in a 12 PM tip off.
