Monroe Cruises Past Sullivan with 79-39 Blowout Victory
The #12 Monroe Tribunes dominated their first road game of the season, crushing Sullivan County Community College. Monroe's deep roster showcased their offensive firepower and efficiency, with three bench players scoring in double digits.
LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY - The #12 men's basketball Tribunes dominated the Sullivan County CC Generals in the seasons Sullivan Classic, 79-39 in the team's first road game of the season. The dominance was spread from top to bottom, with no one player to Monroe taking over the game.
MCC took a blistering 36-17 lead at the half, which only continued into the second half, where they outscored the Generals 43-22. Monroe was a force offensively, shooting a solid 42.3% on an impressive 71 attempts, showcasing the sheer volume and efficiency of their attack. Free throws were also beneficial, with Monroe hitting 12-16 as compared to only 7-12 for the Generals.
The three players who put up double-digit points for Monroe all came off the bench, with Denarius McCurty (Syracuse, NY) and Francisco Mattei (Bronx, NY) scoring 10 points each, and Delroy Smith (Hillside, NJ), who scored 12 points.
The Tribunes are proving to be a real force to be reckoned with this season, showing their ability throughout the roster in two dominant wins. They will look to continue this success as they come home to take on Cecil College.
