Jayhawks Struggle Against Bay
First half struggles prove to be the difference in the game.
The Jayhawks were defeated by Bay College 94-66 in a hard fought conference matchup. The game was a tale of two halves as Muskegon was outscored 62-31 by the Norse in the first half, yet out scored Bay College 34-33 in the second half. The first half was competitive through the first 13 minutes of play, but the Norse's full court pressure forced numerous Muskegon turnovers in the backcourt leading to a Bay College 30-9 scoring run to close out the half.
The second half was a much different story. The Jayhawks were able to manage Bay's pressure and take advantage on the offensive side of the court. Unfortunately, the Jayhawks were not able to close the gap created in the first half. Sophomores Joe Russau and Will Chye led the way for the Jayhawks, both finishing with 16 points a piece. Russau added seven rebounds and Chye finished with four rebounds as well as four assists. The loss pushes the Jayhawks record to 9-8 and 2-1 in conference play. Muskegon hopes to capture a conference win in their next matchup on Wednesday, January 22nd at Montcalm Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
