NORTH EAST - Cecil College baseball could not keep up with Harford's firepower on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Fighting Owls in both sides of a doubleheader.
The Seahawks are now 1-3 on the year.
GAME ONE - Harford 9, Cecil 4
The Fighting Owls scored four runs in the first and one in the second to control the game early. A pair of runs, highlighted by Ben Campbell's solo blast, put Cecil within a few. Harford homered in the top of the third to make it 6-3, but an RBI groundout by Christian Crutch and a wild pitch left the Seahawks trailing by just two.
After a scoreless fifth frame, Harford picked up three runs over the last two innings. Cecil went down in order in the sixth, but fought to lowed the bases in the seventh before the Fighting Owls turned a double play to end the game.
Andrew Baldini led the Seahawks with two hits. Christian Crutch and Ethan Neff chipped in Cecil's other two RBI. From the mound, Chris Woods (0-2) took the loss.
GAME TWO - Harford 12, Cecil 4
Harford scored the first seven runs of the game, crusing to a win in the second game of the day.
Cecil finally answered in the fourth, as Andrew Baldini drove in Christian Crutch with a double. Harford canceled the run out in the top of the fith, but a two-run homer by Hunter Sipel made the score 8-3.
After neither team scored in the sixth, Harford went on to plate four runs in the final frame to put down any hope of a Cecil comeback. The Seahawks would eventually load the bases in the seventh and score a run before the side was retired.
Cecil used seven different pitchers in the game, including Ty Whittaker (0-1). The freshman tossed four strikeouts and gave up just one earned run on three hits.
Franco Riposo led the Seahawks at the dish with two hits, while five Cecil batters finished with one hit each. Sipel led with two RBI, with Baldini and Neff collected one each.
