
Saints Swept by St. Johns River
On Tuesday afternoon, Santa Fe traveled to Palatka, Florida, for a doubleheader against St. Johns River State College.

In game one of the doubleheader, St. Johns River beat SF 8-3. The Saints struck first in the top of the second inning scoring a run; however, the Vikings scored three in the bottom half. St. Johns River scored a run a piece in the fourth and fifth innings. A three spot in the sixth inning topped off the ball game as Santa Fe had no answer in the seventh. Santa Fe scored one run in both the third and fifth innings. Karris Rhine continues to be a problem for opposing pitchers as she went 2-4 with an RBI. McKenzie Jewell had a three-hit game, going 3-4. Jewell hit two solo homeruns in the game. This marks the second time this season she has had multi-homerun games. Ryleigh Bauer received the start for SF going 5.0 innings allowing five runs, striking out four, and walking four. Ryleigh Bennett entered in the sixth inning, allowing three runs in her time.
In game two the Saints were run-ruled 10-2. The Saints were out to a 2-1 lead making the turn for the bottom of the fourth inning. In the inning, St. Johns River scored six runs to take a 7-2 lead. A three spot in the bottom of the fifth inning walked the game off in run-rule fashion. Camryn VanGalder was the only Saint with a multi-hit game, going 2-2 and scoring a run. Rhine went 1-3 and had an RBI, while Olivia LaMeau went 1-3 and scored a run. Belle Mancillas started the second game of the day. Mancillas went 4.0 innings allowing eight hits and seven runs. Mancillas walked three and struck out three on the afternoon. Alexis Daphney threw the final 0.2 innings allowing two hits and the final three runs of the game.
The Saints are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Miami Dade College to start conference play. The doubleheader begins at noon with the second game to follow.
