Big 2nd Half Propels Ocelots Over Monarchs

WARREN, MI – In the opening contest of the MCCAA conference schedule, the Ocelots traveled to Warren to square off against the Monarchs.

Throughout the first 20 minutes of play, the 2 teams would fight back and forth. In the 1^st quarter, Schoolcraft would jump out to a 10-2 lead not even a full 3 minutes into the game. However, Macomb would fight back to cut the Ocelot lead to just 4, 17-13, after 10 minutes. Macomb would continue their run from the end of the 1^st quarter and outscore Schoolcraft 12-10 in the 2^nd frame. Going into the locker room at the break, Schoolcraft would only hold a 27-25 lead. Mariah Scott led the way in the 1^st half with 8 points, followed by Sharon Smith with 7.

Schoolcraft would come out of the locker room ready to roll for the 2^nd half. Winning the 3^rd quarter 22-10, the Ocelot defense would hold the Monarchs to 28.6% from the field and force 5 turnovers. The 4^th quarter would prove to be much of the same from the 3^rd quarter. Macomb would shoot 12.5% in the 4^th frame as Schoolcraft would shoot 50% to outscore the Monarchs 19-5. For the 2^nd half, Siena McNitt would pace the offense with 13 points, including 10 in the 3^rd.

Schoolcraft returns to their home floor for the first time on Wednesday since December 21^st opening up MCCAA play at home against the Bears from Mott. Tip-off is slated for 5:30PM.
