
After taking two from Tallahassee on Thursday the Lady Pats travelled to Panama City Beach for the Panama City Beach JUCO Softball Showdown to play some teams from out of state. They went 2-2 in the showdown, splitting both doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
Game 1 vs Snead State: CF 5 - Snead 3
Snead got off to an early lead in the first, scoring two runs. The pats responded with two in the second on a two-run home run from sophomore Bailey Holmes, her first of the year. The Pats scored another in the third on Amber Daugherty's double to the lead. The Pats would add another run in the fourth and sixth and hold on to a 5-3 win. Hailey Pyle pitched six and one-third innings in relief for the win. She only allowed one run and struck out three.
Game 2 vs Wallace State - Hanceville: CF 3 - WSH 5
Much like game one CF surrendered two in the first to Wallace State. They responded with a run in the bottom of the inning and scored two more in the second inning on an RBI Triple by Peyton Hatcher and an RBI single by Amy Crosby. The Lady Pats couldn't hold onto their lead though as they gave up a three-run homer to Brooklynn Sertell. Pyle took the loss, her first of the year.
Game 3 vs Volunteer State: CF 4 - VS 5
The Patriots out hit Volunteer State twelve to six in game three in Panama City Beach, however they only managed to plate four runs and had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the 7th down by just one when Leah Clark was thrown at home on a Raegan Geiger double. Caitlin Blankenship had a good game at the plate going two for three with a home run and a double and two runs scored. Abbie Roach also had two doubles in the game and drove in two runs. Madison VanAllen started the game and went one and two-thirds only allowing one hit. Pyle relieved her and took her second loss of the year, allowing five runs on five hits with two walks and two strike outs.
Game 4 vs Laurleen B Wallace: CF 9 - LBW 4
CF Softball finished strong with a win over Laurleen B Wallace. Madison VanAllen led the way with four RBI offensively and pitched a strong game in the circle. She went five and two-thirds innings, striking out three and only allowed two unearned runs. Gabby Rascher had an extra base hit with a double in the fourth. Amy Crosby, Abbie Roach, Leah Clark and Raegan Geiger all had stolen bases in the game.
The Pats improve to 8-2 on the season and next play their home opener on Saturday, February 15th vs St Johns River State College, the reigning D2 NJCAA National Champions.
