Sharks Secure Thrilling 83-77 Victory Over Santa Fe College
The Miami Dade College women's basketball team displayed resilience and poise in a hard-fought 83-77 victory over Santa Fe College on the road. After a dominant first half, the Sharks weathered a third-quarter surge by the Saints and rallied in the final period to claim the win.
Shameir Quimby was unstoppable for the Sharks, pouring in a game-high 25 points on an efficient 11-of-13 shooting while adding five rebounds and three assists. Cleaira Peterson dominated the paint with a double-double, recording 22 points and 14 rebounds, including six offensive boards, while shooting 8-of-14 from the floor.
Kiara Harris provided steady leadership with 13 points, six assists, and three rebounds, including three key 3-pointers. Jazmyne Bynum added 13 points and five assists, helping the Sharks capitalize on their offensive opportunities.
The Sharks opened the game with a commanding 18-10 first-quarter lead and extended their advantage to 41-24 at halftime. However, Santa Fe mounted a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Miami Dade 27-11 to narrow the gap. Refusing to fold under pressure, the Sharks surged back in the fourth quarter with 31 points to seal the victory.
The Sharks shot an impressive 53.4% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line while dominating the glass with 15 offensive rebounds. Their balanced attack and late-game execution proved to be the difference in a tightly contested matchup.
With this win, the Sharks move to 6-2 on the year and look to continue their win streak as they take on St. Petersburg College on Monday.
