
HANOVER, Md. – With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, the Anne Arundel Community College scored the winning run on a walk-off wild pitch against Hudson Valley Community College to defeat the Vikings, 2-1, Friday evening.
With two outs, Rylan Palle dropped a single into center to drive in pinch runner Jack Woods from second to tie the game, 1-1. Palle advanced to second on an Agustin Murillo single to third before the pair executed a double steal. Sam Ross drew a walk to load the bases, and Palle crossed the plate during Nicco Holland's at bat when HVCC pitcher Jake O'Connor hurled the ball high and outside past the catcher's reach.
Hudson Valley scored its lone run in the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, Carson Jenkins-Antle drove in a run with a fielder's choice to second.
Jack Davidson earned the win for AACC with a two-inning relief appearance. Davidson allowed two hits and struck out three. Holland struck out three and walked one in his first start of the season, a three-inning outing. Matt Donaldson allowed one run on two hits with three strike outs and a pair of walks in two innings of relief work.
The teams played three full innings of a second game before it was halted due to a local lights ordinance. Since the game was not able to be played to completion, no statistics from the game count. The rain then prevented the teams from completing the series over the rest of the weekend.
Next up for AACC is a three-game weekend series against Orange County Community College at Skip Brown Field. The teams will play an 11 a.m. doubleheader Saturday, February 22, followed by an 11 a.m. single, nine-inning game on Sunday, February 23.
