Ladies Basketball Earns OT Victory
Erie Community College women's basketball team recorded their first win of the season on Tuesday with an overtime win over Roberts Wesleyn JV, 72-71.
The Kats came out strong, outscoring the Redhawks 17-5 in the first quarter and didn't allow their opponent a field goal for the first eight minutes of play. Erie would take a 30-27 lead into the half. The second half was a back and forth tight battle between the two teams. Erie would continue to lead by as many as ten points at one time but the Redhawks kept pressing and would eventually tie the game with just six seconds left to play sending the game into overtime. OT would come down to the final seconds as Roberts Wesleyn would have a chance to tie it again but the jumper missed, securing the Kats victory.
Erie had three players in double digits. Skye Lee was the leading scorer with 22 points and adding nine rebounds. Irena Northington had 14 points, five rebounds and six assists while Monae Allen had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Kats are off for the Thanksgiving break and will return to action on Wednesday, December 4th at Broome Community College.
