
The Pumas faced College of Southern Idaho on January 28 in a heartbreaker for the Pumas, as they lost the lead late in a 5-3 defeat. The game was tied at three in the top of the tenth when College of Southern Idaho singled, scoring two runs.
College of Southern Idaho opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run.
The Pumas then took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Jared Swarbrick homered to left field, scoring two runs, to give the Pumas a 2-1 lead.
College of Southern Idaho recaptured the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth after a single to center field, and Dylan Droelle balked, each scoring one run.
Cooper Holtorf tripled to center field, which helped the Pumas tie the game at three in the bottom of the fifth.
Eli Lipinski started the game for the Pumas. The starter allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Brody Livingston took the loss for the Pumas. The lefty went two innings, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one.
Swarbrick drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Pumas with two RBIs. The number three hitter went 1-2 on the day. Swarbrick, Erick Dessens, Jackson Babione, Holtorf, and Reilly Blake each collected one hit for the Pumas.
The Pumas next face Eastern Utah at home in a four game series starting Friday, January 31 at 12:00pm.
