Friday evening, the Marian Ancilla Women's Basketball team moved to 5-0 on the season, following an 83-60 victory at Montcalm Community College. The Centurions are in their first year as a program, but they proved to be a worthy, hot-shooting team throughout the contest, knocking down 11-25 shots from long range.

The Chargers jumped out to a 10-0 lead to begin the game, but Montcalm answered back with the next 8 points. Over the next 12 minutes or so, the Chargers would extend the lead to as many as 20 points (41-21 at one point), only for the Centurions to fire in 3-pointers and cut their deficit to one or two possessions. By half, though, Marian Ancilla held a 44-29 advantage.

The third quarter started similarly to the opening period, with the Chargers beginning on a 10-0 run, taking a 54-29 lead. However, following a timeout by Montcalm, the Centurions answered with a 9-0 run of their own, and they won the 3rd quarter, 22-20, trimming the lead to just 13 points (64-51) entering the final stage.

In the fourth, however, stingy defense by Marian Ancilla that resulted in several steals at one end and easy baskets at the other, allowed the Chargers to pull away, plus they limited Montcalm to just 9 points in the quarter, as Marian Ancilla secured success, 83-60.

Freshman forward Santana Eubanks posted her third double-double in five tries, scoring 22 points and hauling in 12 rebounds, 7 of which came at the offensive end of the floor. She also came away with 5 thefts on the night. Freshman guard Annika Davis was the top-scoring Charger, as she buried 5 of 11 tries from 3-point range and scored 23 points on the night. She added 7 rebounds and 4 assists to her tally as well.

The post trio of Freshman Jadyn Harris (3 points, 6 rebounds), Sophomore Beauti Santiago (4 points, 2 rebounds), and Sophomore Maykayla Washington-Cobb (2 rebounds, 2 assists) combined for 7 points and 10 rebounds, 7 of which were offensive boards. Montcalm's Emily Putnam led all scorers with 26 points, including 6-11 shooting from 3-point range.

The Chargers are back in action with two more games next week. Tuesday, they travel to Kankakee Community College for a fourth consecutive road game (6:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. CT). Then Saturday, November 23rd, they host this same Montcalm team at the LifePlex at 1:00 p.m. ET. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
