ACC Falls to Kirtland, 67-62
Despite Derian Williams' 28 points, ACC fell to Kirtland Community College on the road, 67-62.
The Firebirds jumped out to a 10-2 lead but the Lumberjacks battled back and cut the deficit to one on numerous occasions, at 12-11 and 23-22 and tied the game at 23-all. The half ended with Kirtland up by one, 28-27.
ACC took its first leads of the game early in the second-half at 29-28 on a Derian Williams layup and 32-30 on a three by Jadin Mix.
Minutes later, the Jacks led held what would be their largest lead of the night at 37-35 on two made free throws by Derian Williams. However, the Firebirds then went on an 11-0 run to give them a lead they would not relinquish.
In addition to Derian Williams' game-high point tally, he had nine rebounds. Robert Williams scored 13 and Nick Fileccia and Xavier Blumberg had 13 and 9 rebounds respectively. Blumberg finished with eight points.
ACC (2-15 overall, 1-7 conference) returns home to play on Saturday, Feb. 8 hosting Muskegon CC (12-9, 5-2).
