Brookhaven Grabs Two-Game Lead for 3rd Place

MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven men's basketball team beat Dallas College Eastfield, 74-61, Wednesday night to take a two-game lead on third place in the Dallas Athletic Conference.

The third place team in the league will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District quarterfinals Feb. 25. Brookhaven (9-18, 6-6 DAC) holds a two-game lead over Dallas College Cedar Valley, Dallas College Mountain View and Dallas College Eastfield for the third spot.

Brookhaven plays at Cedar Valley 1 p.m. Saturday. The final regular season game is Saturday, Feb. 22 at Mountain View.

The Bears shot 52 percent, hitting 26 of 50 field goals. They were 5 of 13 from long range and 17 of 29 from the free throw line.

Jeremy Roman hit 8 of 10 shots for 21 points, and grabbed eight rebounds, while blocking a shot in the win. Brandon Webber added 17 points, six boards and two steals, and Zach Gomez had 14 points for the Bears. Jovan Danner scored 10 points off the bench.

Brookhaven led 44-23 at halftime. Eastfield (6-19, 4-8) outscored the Bears 38-30 in the second half.

Brookhaven's final home game is Feb. 19 against second place Dallas College North Lake.
