Season Sweep: #18 Tribunes Sweep Season Series Over Sullivan in Dominant 108-78 Win
Jamestown, NY - The #18 Monroe Community College (MCC) Tribunes went head-to-head with Sullivan County Community College (SCCC) in what turned out to be a one-sided contest. The game, played at Jamestown Community College at the annual Jamestown Classic Tournament, with Monroe dominating the Generals with a final score of 108-78.
From the get-go, it was clear that Monroe had the upper hand. They jumped out to a quick lead and went into halftime ahead 56-33. SCCC struggled to find their rhythm, shooting only 37.7% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range.
Erik Jarecki stood out for SCCC, leading the team with 18 points, while Kevin Rochez added 16 points and 4 assists. Zyir Fowler also chipped in with 15 points. Despite their efforts, Sullivan couldn't keep up with Monroe's high-powered offense.
On the other side, Monroe's Alvin Baez was a standout player, scoring 21 points and hitting 10 of his 14 shots. Gemani Charles supported him with 15 points, and Christopher Judge contributed 14. The team's solid rebounding, with 45 total boards, helped them control the game and create second-chance opportunities.
While SCCC had some moments of teamwork, racking up 18 assists, their 14 turnovers proved costly, allowing Monroe to take advantage of fast breaks and scoring opportunities.
In the end, Monroe's strong performance improved their record to 9-2 and helped them secure their third straight win.
