The Kats volleyball team ended their season with a trip to the NJCAA Region III finals on Sunday. Erie fell to Fulton County Community College, 13-25, 15-25 and 18-25.
Coach Craig Starzynski said, "The girls played their hearts out today but it wasn't meant to be. Some days you win and some days you lose. It doesn't diminish the incredible season we had."
The team earned a spot in the finals after defeating the #3 seed team, Jefferson County Community College in four sets on Saturday, 22-25, 25-14, 25-21 and 25-22.
The Kats had two players named to the All-Region Team. Sophomore Delia Lake was awarded with second team honors while freshman Allison Gummo was named to the third team.
After a season that started with four straight losses the team would rally to end the season on a 13 game winning streak. They won the WNYAC tournament and ended the season with a 16-8 record.
"I am so proud of our athletes! We will be back here next year," said Starzynski.
