
Ondineme and Scott Dominate in Raiders 80-58 win over Miami Dade
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Northwest Florida State women's basketball secured their sixth victory of the season with an emphatic 80-56 win over Miami Dade, maintaining their unbeaten record at 6-0. The win was fueled by standout performances from veterans Jade Ondineme and Nevaeh Scott.
Ondineme delivered a career-high 17 points, along with nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Meanwhile, Scott matched Ondineme's scoring total with 17 points of her own, while also contributing six assists and hitting two three-pointers, marking her second double-digit scoring effort of the season.
Another key contributor was sophomore Deborah Davenport, who added 13 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, and two steals, continuing her impressive run this year.
The game started as a tightly contested battle, with Miami Dade shooting an impressive 47.1% in the first quarter, making eight of their 17 attempts. The Sharks held a slim lead for most of the opening period until the Raiders surged ahead in the final 30 seconds, taking a 21-17 lead into the second quarter.
From there, Northwest Florida took control, outscoring Miami Dade 59-39 the rest of the way. The Raiders shot 48% from the field compared to Miami Dade's 39%, while also dominating the glass with a +8 rebounding advantage and dishing out 10 more assists than their opponents.
The Sharks struggled with turnovers, committing 24, and gave the Raiders 21 free-throw attempts, of which they converted 15. Northwest Florida's balanced effort on both offense and defense underscored their dominance and highlighted why they've been so effective this season.
Next up, the Raiders will look to continue their winning ways as they face Florida Southwestern in back-to-back matchups. The first game tips off tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. at Sun Coast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Florida.
FIRST HALF
