Winning Streak Ends at 9 Games as Spartan Men Fall to Central Lakes

The Spartans 9 game winning streak to start the season came to an end on Friday night when the Central Lakes Raiders handed M State a 78-75 loss in Fergus Falls.  The game was tied at 37-37 at halftime.  Central Lakes shot a blistering 57.7% (30-52) from the field, while M State hit 42.6% (29-68) of their field goal attempts.  M State won the rebounding battle, 31-29.

Four Raiders reached double digits, led by 25 points from DeWayne Givens.  Jaiquavious Ackey added 15, Jakobe Jones had 14 and Josh Rogers contributed a dozen.  Rogers led the team with 7 rebounds and Givens had 6.  Jones dished out 4 assists and Ackey had a team high 4 steals.

Yonis Mohamud and Javin Tindall led M State with 21 and 20 points, respectively, while Foday Sheriff added 17.  Tindall secured 10 rebounds and Sheriff had 11 as both players registered a double-double.  Sheriff also led the team with 5 assists.  Braylon Baldwin added 5 points, 5 assists and 5 steals off the bench.

M State will now face Gogebic College at 3:00pm Saturday in Fergus Falls.
