
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 8-ranked Johnson County Community College volleyball team closed out its regular season home schedule celebrating it seven sophomores with a sweep over Labette Community College at JCCC Gymnasium Wednesday night. The Lady Cavalier quickly disposed the Cardinals winning 25-10, 25-10, 25-15 to improve to 24-5 overall and 7-1 in the conference.
Johnson County has two conference matches remaining in the regular season, both on the road against Highland Community College Friday, October 25 and Neosho County Community College Wednesday, October 30.
The Lady Cavaliers finished the night hitting .370 as a team. Sophomore Kennedy Smalley led the hitters with seven kills and kill percentage of. 467. Sophomore Bella Hedke, sophomore Chloe Carlgren and freshman Rilyn Sommer followed with six kills each. Hedke hit .455, Carlgren .417 and Sommer .357.
Sophomore setter Wren VanCleave led the offense with 25 assists and freshman libero/defensive specialist Carlie Martin the team with 15 digs.
Freshman Taylin Stallbaumer finished the night with a career high and JCCC single match record 10 aces, breaking old mark of nine set by Lori Heeter against Southwestern Illinois on September 24, 1988. As a team the Lady Cavaliers had 15 aces.
