DOTHAN, Ala.- After using their bats to pick up a pair of wins on day one of the Visit Dothan Invitational on Friday, the #7 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers used their arms to collect two more on Saturday as Bucs pitching allowed just one run in two games, defeating Georgia Military 3-1 before blanking Central Alabama 8-0 in game two to finish the weekend a perfect 4-0.

The Bucs got off to a quick start in their opener against Georgia Military as Zoe Yzaguirre worked a 1-2-3 top half of the 1st inning and the FSW offense put three on the board thanks to an RBI triple from Skylar Brennan and a two run single from Nicole Edmiaston to go up 3-0 after one.

Georgia Military got on the board for the first time in the 3rd with a two out rally to cut the Bucs lead to 3-1.

Both sides put a runner on in each of the next two innings, but neither side could come through with the big hit to drive home a run as the game flew to the bottom of the 5th with the score still 3-1 FSW.

Emily Allegood led off the FSW 5th with a double to left, but she was cut down at the plate trying to score later in the inning to keep it a 3-1 game to the 6th.

Yzaguirre continued to dominate with another 1-2-3 frame in the 6th,  but the Bucs were unable to get her any insurance as the score remained 3-1 into the 7th.

The Bulldogs made some noise in the 7th, getting a leadoff single to bring the tying run to the plate, but a strikeout and a pop out quickly put two outs in the board and gave Georgia Military only one more to work with with the game on the line.  A single back up the box put the tying run on and brought the go ahead run to the plate, but Yzaguirre came up big, winning a long at bat by getting a pop up on the infield and as the ball settled in Allegood's glove at third, the Bucs hung on to win it 3-1.

Yzaguirre went the distance in the circle, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out six to improve to 3-0 on the year. The bulk of the Bucs offensive damage came from the middle of their order as Allegood and Megan Veilleux had two hits a piece while Edmiaston drove in two of the three runs in the game with her 1st inning single.

The Bucs second game of the day against Central Alabama had much less drama involved.

FSW jumped on the Trojans right away as three straight one out singles in the bottom of the 1st loaded the bases before a Central Alabama error allowed a pair of runs to score and a Veilleux single off the pitcher brought in another to make it 3-0. Later in the frame a Trojan error allowed the fourth FSW run of the inning score to stake the Bucs out to a 4-0 advantage after one inning of play.

It was three up, three down the next three half innings until FSW came to hit in the bottom of the 3rd and tacked on three more runs, using a pair of errors and RBIs from McKenzie Bailey-McDowell and K'Mari Williams to up their lead to 7-0 at the end of three.

Brianice Silguero ripped a pinch hit double to lead off the FSW 4th and scored on a fielder's choice later in the inning to make it 8-0 Bucs and Marissa Wilkinson finished it off from there, striking out the side in the 5th to close out an 8-0 run rule win for FSW.

Bailey-McDowell and Wilkinson combined for a one hit shutout for the Bucs in the circle as Bailey-McDowell earned her second win of the season going three scoreless with four strikeouts before handing the ball to Wilkinson who fired a pair of hitless frames in her collegiate debut.

Eight different Bucs had hits in the win while Virginia Mambelli was the only player to have more than one hit, going 2-2 with a pair of runs scored.

The Bucs finish the Visit Dothan Invitational a perfect 4-0 while outscoring their opponents 30-8 to improve to 7-0 on the year.

FSW will finally play at home on Tuesday when they host New College of Florida in a doubleheader beginning at 1 PM at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.
