Poor shooting dooms Gaston College in Saturday's Region 10 loss
Shooting woes continued for the Gaston College basketball team in Saturday's 100-66 loss to Region-10 leading Brunswick Community College at Gastonia's Ashbrook High School.
The visiting Dolphins (19-4, 7-2) took control of the game from the outset and the Rhinos (18-6, 4-5) didn't help themselves with season-lows in overall shooting percentage (29.9) and 3-point shooting percentage (10.7).
"It's real simple: We've just got to get back to work," Gaston College coach Benny Moss said. "Yes, we have some adversity without Jozohn and J.R. being able to play. But every team has adversity and it's how you deal it."
Jozohn Price and J.R. Watson were out with injuries and the Rhinos' offensive balance suffered.
Sophomore Tyheim Love was the only player to shooter better than 50 percent and scored a career-high 30 points.
Sophomore Jordan Brown (16 points, 5 rebounds), sophomore Judah Ravenell (6 points, 9 rebounds) and freshman E.J. Joyner (4 points, 5 rebounds) were other contributors for Gaston College.
The Rhinos remain at home for the next two games at Gastonia's Ashbrook High School - Wednesday against Wake Tech at 8 p.m. and next Saturday against Richard Bland on "Sophomore Day" at 3 p.m.
"We just have to work hard in practice and try to get better," Moss said.
