
Ellsworth Sports Information
Trenton, MO – The Ellsworth baseball team collected a trio of wins from a weekend trip to Missouri. The Panthers faced Dakota County Tech and North Central Misouri in split doubleheaders both days, earning a sweep of DCTC and splitting with North Central Missouri.
Game 1 Notes (W 12-2 vs. Dakota County Tech):
- Ellsworth took the opening game against DCTC, 12-2.
- The Panthers capitalized on 13 walks from the Blue Knights, scoring 12 runs on just six hits.
- In earning the victory on the mound, Boston Doeschot struck out 10 of 17 batters faced in four innings of work.
- Offensively, Boston Doeschot put the game out of reach with a three-run home run in the top of the 5th, extending the lead to 10-2. Doeschot also scored three runs on three oppportunities.
- Dillon Carlson reached base on all four plate appearances, with two singles and two walks.
Game 2 Notes (L 10-5 vs. North Central Missouri):
- North Central Missouri rallied from an early 5-1 deficit to top the Panthers.
- Doeschot again led the offensive effort for the Panthers, earning three hits and three RBI in four at-bats.
- Reigning ICCAC Player of the Week Brandon Weigel went 2-3, drawing two walks and scoring twice.
- The bottom of the fourth proved costly for the Panthers. Entering with a 5-2 lead and almost escaping the inning with a two-run lead, North Central Missouri's Jimenez tallied a three-run bomb and the Pirates never looked back.
Game 3 Notes (W 8-0 vs. Dakota County Tech):
- Ellsworth completed the weekend sweep of the Blue Knights, 8-0.
- Several Panthers collected doubles: Brandon Weigel, Connor MacAlpine, Maddox O'Connor, Caden Sammler all reached second-base while Eric McGill and Boston Doeschot did so twice.
- The game was 0-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth before the Panthers built their lead. McGill, Doeschot, MacAlpine, and O'Connor all tallied one RBI doubles to build 4-0 advantage that would not be challenged.
- Doeschot went 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
- Brock Adamson pitched six innings, allowing just five hits and striking out six batters in the victory.
- Eric McGill and Maddox O'Connor each went 2-3 from the plate.
Game 4 Notes (W 18-0 vs. North Central Missouri):
- Ellsworth avenged Saturday's loss with a big 18-0 run-rule victory over the Pirates in five innings.
- With the victory, the Panthers improved to 12-5 on the season while handing the Pirates (11-3) just their third loss in 14 games.
- The Panthers opened up the bats: all 11 players with a plate apperance reached base at some point during the game.
- Maddox O'Connor went 3-3 with a walk, tallying an impressive 8 RBI and two runs scored. Two of O'Connor's three hits came as a home run and a double.
- Connor MacAlpine scored four different times off a 2-2, two-walk performance from the plate.
- Eric McGill earned three stolen bases in the final game of the series in Trenton.
- Jordan Dahlof pitched all five innings, tallying seven strikeouts and allowing just four hits in the shutout performance.
Up next: the Panthers travel to Enid, Oklahoma's David Allen Memorial Ballpark, host site of the NJCAA DII World Series, for a four-game series with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid this Friday and Saturday. Games start both days at 1:00 PM.
