SOLON, OH – The conference opener between Bryant & Stratton College - Ohio and Hocking College proved to be a thrilling doubleheader at Cisar Field on Wednesday, with both teams splitting the day. Hocking College took the first game 7-5, while the Bobcats rebounded in Game 2 with an 8-3 victory.
Game 1: Hocking College 7, Bryant & Stratton 5
Game 1 saw plenty of action, with both teams trading blows throughout. Hocking College jumped out to an early lead, and despite a valiant effort from the Bobcats, they could not catch up. Bryant & Stratton starter Cooper Villereal was handed the loss, giving up three earned runs across five innings of work while striking out six. Though he kept the game competitive, Hocking's offense proved too strong.
Game 2: Bryant & Stratton 8, Hocking College 3
The Bobcats came out with a vengeance in the nightcap. A powerful offensive display, highlighted by home runs from Niko Reach and Kayalo Shaw, helped the Bobcats seize control early and never look back. Reach and Shaw's long balls energized the lineup, while Brody Puchmajer and Darius Ensley each contributed two RBIs, keeping the pressure on the Hocking pitching staff.
Hudson Gerken also had a standout performance, going 2-for-3 at the plate, adding to the Bobcats' offensive firepower.
