DMACC women's basketball team tops St. Ambrose JV, 87-68
  • Sophomore Mary Walker leads DMACC with 28 points
  • Sophomore Joy Beran adds 15 points
  • Bears shoot 52 percent in the win

 

Sophomores Mary Walker of Fonda and Joy Beran of Riceville scored 28 and 15 points respectively to lead the DMACC women's basketball team to an 87-68 win over the St. Ambrose University Junior Varsity (SAUJV) November 15 at Davenport.

 

Freshman Chloe Costello of Northwood came off the bench to score 10 points as the Bears improved to 3-1 for the season.

 

DMACC led throughout the game. The Bears were up 22-13 at the end of the first quarter and held a 49-36 advantage at halftime. They had a 65-52 lead at the end of the third quarter.

 

DMACC shot 52 percent from the field, hitting 32 of 62 shots. The Bears were 8-of-23 from three-point range and 15-of-22 from the free throw line.

 

Beran and freshman Breeley Clayburg of Coon Rapids had six rebounds apiece as DMACC came away with a 37-31 advantage on the boards. Freshmen Whitney Jensen of Remsen and Kaylee Stratton of Tiffin topped the Bears in assists with five and four respectively and Costello and sophomore Reese Stevens of Tulsa, Okla., led the way in steals with three apiece.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will host the DMACC Tournament Nov. 22 and 23 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears will play Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) on Nov. 22 and will face the Midland University Junior Varsity on Nov. 23.
