
The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team took down the Mid-America Nazarene University Varsity Reserve team, 76-74 Dec.6 at MCC-Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo. Despite the slow start scoring just 10 points in the first quarter, the Blue Devils bounced back and dropped 26 points in the second quarter and led the Pioneers 36-29 at the half.
Capri Garrett recorded her fourth double-double on the season scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Garrett also managed to get three blocks and two assists. Bennett Peck went 3-8 from behind the arc and finished with 14 points and three rebounds. Zoe Clark had 13 points and six rebounds. Six of her 13 points came in the fourth quarter. Destiny Ochs scored a career-high 13 points while shooting 6-13 from the field and brought down seven rebounds.
For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 25-61 from the field (41%), 12-26 from three-point range (46.2%) and 12-23 from the free-throw line (52.2%). The Pioneers shot 28-71 from the field (39.4%), 6-19 from three-point range (31.6%) and 14-25 from the free-throw line (56%).
The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against Southeast Community College at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley.
