February 8, 2025 | Clinton Community College
The SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves delivered a thrilling 84-78 victory on the road against a strong Clinton Community College team, securing a crucial two-game season sweep. This win marks a milestone for the program, as it gives Adirondack 15 wins on the season—the most the Timberwolves have achieved since 1992.
In a game that featured back-and-forth action, both teams showcased impressive offensive efficiency. However, it was the Timberwolves who came out on top, led by standout performances from sophomore forward Eugene Johnson and guards Messiah McLaurin and Tyre Williams.
Johnson was a force on both ends of the floor, finishing with 16 points on an efficient 7-10 shooting and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. McLaurin contributed 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Williams chipped in 16 points and 7 assists, helping to guide Adirondack to the hard-fought victory.
With the win, the Timberwolves improve to 15-5 on the season and continue to build momentum as they aim to secure a top-four seed in the regional tournament and earn a second consecutive year with a first-round bye.
"This was an important win for our team and for the program as a whole," said Adirondack Head Coach Maxx Sweet. "We played well on both ends of the floor, and our guys stepped up when it mattered most".
Adirondack now looks ahead to a tough road matchup against Mohawk Valley on Wednesday, February 12th. Mohawk Valley, currently ranked 2nd in the nation, will present a significant challenge, but the Timberwolves are focused on continuing their strong play as they approach the regional tournament.
