Delta Uses Strong Second Half to Power Past Kirtland, 89-65
The Delta College men's basketball team pulled away in the second half to secure an 89-65 road victory over Kirtland Community College on Saturday, February 8, 2025. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 9-13 on the season and 4-5 in conference play.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with Delta holding a narrow 41-38 lead at halftime. However, the Pioneers took control in the second half, outscoring Kirtland 48-27 behind strong defensive pressure and efficient scoring.
Key Performances
Jayden Hackett delivered a dominant performance, leading all scorers with 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting, including five three-pointers. Evan Booker and Brendon Schlink each added 11 points, while London Williams contributed 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Off the bench, Ja'Vion Blackwell provided eight points and three assists, while Willie Humphrey added six points and seven rebounds. Delta's balanced attack saw 10 different players get on the scoreboard.

Delta shot 42.9% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range. The Pioneers controlled the glass, outrebounding Kirtland 46-38 and dishing out 20 assists as a team. Their defense also forced 18 turnovers, leading to key transition opportunities.
