Despite a 13-2 run over the final 6:24 of the contest, the Hornets fell short to the Lakers in the conference matchup.
SUNY Broome held a brief lead in the opening minutes of the first half before the Lakers took the lead and maintained it throughout. With the Hornets forced to make a comeback, a 16-8 run helped SUNY Broome cut the deficit to 36-31 at the break. The Hornets closed the gap to 36-33 early in the second before the Lakers used a 17-6 run to take a 53-39 lead with just over 13 minutes left. The final SUNY Broome push over the last six minutes came up unsuccessful.
Three Hornets reached double figures in the contest. Connor Green had an excellent 15-point, 15-rebound double-double. Antuan Darden also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Amauri Truax just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, adding three assists.
Broome shot just 37.7% from the field and committed 27 turnovers in the loss. Now sitting at 4-8 overall and 3-2 in conference, the Hornets will look to get back in the win column on Sunday when they host Fulton-Montgomery CC at 3:00 PM.
