Men's Basketball secures Postseason berth with Win over Mott
Flint, MI- It was a successful road trip up to Mott Community College on Saturday afternoon as the Oakland Community College men's basketball team came away victorious with a final score of 80-66. Not only did this improve the Owls conference record to 8-5, 19-8 overall, but it secured them a position in the MCCAA Great Lakes District Tournament!
This is the first time the men's team has reached postseason play since the 2020-2021 season, where they finished 5th with an 8-8 conference record and 11-11 overall record.
Leading the way for the Owls against the Bears was Sophomore Linden Holder, who turned in a 23 point, 4 rebound, 5 assist, and 2 steal performance. Freshman Justin Lathem also secured 14 points of his own along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks on the afternoon, while Freshman Nick Spieser included 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals to the winning cause.
The seeding for this year's tournament has yet to be finalized as there is still one conference game left to be played, but the Owls would currently hold the 3 seed. The regular season will wrap up tomorrow as the Owls welcome in the Wayne County Wildcats to campus for a 7:30pm tip-off.
