Northampton, PA - The RVCC Women's Volleyball Team claimed the East District B Championship with a 3-1 win over Montgomery County Community College. Every set was tight and the Lions had to fight their way to their second District Championship in a row.
Lions' sophomore Middle Blocker, Madison Cobb, had 21 kills and was named the tournament MVP. Fellow sophomore, Skylee Ohler, was named to the All-Tournament team after her 36 assist performance. As dominant as Cobb has been it was ultimately the Lions ability to spread the ball around that helped them to victory. Danna Gaitan and Dennicy Mota had 9 and 6 kills respectively. None of the offense would have been possible without great backrow play from Avalyn Stayskal, Akemi Amoretti and Courtney Bordonaro. Bordonaro finished with a team high 19 digs, Stayskal was right behind with 18 and Amoretti also reached double digits with 10.
The Lions have now earned the right to compete in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Cedar Rapids Iowa from November 14th through 16th. The team started the year 0-5 and finished the regular season 23-4 and are currently on a 12 game winning streak.
