Cardinals Open the Season with a Win Against Catawba Valley
Hickory, NC – The Cardinals started off their season on the right foot with a win against Catawba Valley Community College. It was a great all-around performance for Catonsville, leading to an 8-2 victory over the Red Hawks.
The offense was all over the base paths, with every starter reaching base at least one time. The main offensive catalysts in the win were Brianna Twigg and Alana Watts. Twigg set the table for the Cards, recording three hits and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Watts had three hits of her own, along with three runs and two RBIs.
The pitching staff was also fantastic for Catonsville, starting with Emily Fagan. Fagan started the game with five solid innings, allowing just five hits and two runs in route to her first win of the season. Makayla Elligson finished the game with two shutout innings of her own, allowing just one baserunner.
The Cardinals will look to build off this performance in their second game of the season against Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.
