No. 10 Cavaliers roll past Allen 78-53 to extend win streak to 11 straight

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The 10th-ranked Johnson Count men's basketball team ran their current win streak to 11 straight Saturday afternoon, with a 78-53 victor over Allen Community College at JCCC Gymnasium.

The Cavalier dominated play in the first 20 minutes, leading 42-18 at the break, then cruised to the 35-point victory to improve to 23-3 overall and 11-0 in KJCCC Division II play.

Head coach Rand Chappell benefited from a balanced attack with five players reaching double digits and two others with six or more points.

Sophomore forward Brandon Mann led the charge with 14 points, making 5-of-8 shots including a 3-pointer, and three free throws. He also posted six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Freshman guard Gavin Harvey and sophomore guard Steven Samuels each contributed 13 points and freshman forward Tavian Cruse and freshman forward Ron Taylor each poured in 10 points.

Freshman guard Joey Robinson flirted with a double-double finishing with eight points and nine rebounds, and sophomore guard Jordan Jenkins knocked down two 3-pointers to post six points.

Sophomore forward Traeger Rader was the team's second leading rebounds with seven.

Henri Ray-Young led the Red Devils with 15 points, and Malachi Schilreff and Tyler Pinder followed with 11 points each.

Johnson Count will quickly turn around to host Baker University JV on Monday, February 17 at 6 p.m., then travel to Parson, Kansas on Wednesday, February 19 to take on the Labette Cardinals.
