No. 20 Walters State blows past Union College JV, 125-40

MORRISTOWN, TN – No. 20 Walters State picked up their first win of the season on Monday evening, taking down Union College JV 125-40.

With the win, the Senators improved to 1-2 on the season. 

"It's always good to get a win," Walters State coach Jerry Nichols said. "We did some things well tonight on both ends of the floor. We still have a long way to go, and we'll continue working in practice to get ready for conference play starting on Saturday." 

Walters State had eight in double figures in the game, with Alex Garcia, Jaceion Coffey and Malaki Brooks leading the way with 14 points each. Adam Kadoura, Quin'Darius Rumph and Da'Mori Lytch had 12 each, while Charvez Ambrose and Aiden Goins each had 11. 

Other scorers in the game for Walters State were Anthony Davis Jr. with nine, Carter Metz with seven, Elijah Clinton with five and Nathan Beasley with four. Every player for the Senators scored in the game. 

It was a strong start for Walters State in the opening 20 minutes, as they broke out to a 64-15 lead at the break. Lytch and Garcia led the way with 12 points each in the half, while Goins and Ambrose had eight each. Other scorers in the half were Metz and Davis Jr. each with five, Rumph with four, Clinton with three, Kadoura with three, Coffey with two and Beasley with two. 

In the second half, it was more of the same for Walters State as they cruised to the 125-40 win. Kadoura scored nine in the second half, while Brooks had all 14 of his points in the final 20 minutes. Other scorers were Coffey with 12 points on four 3-pointers, Rumph with eight, Davis Jr. with four, Ambrose with three, Goins with three, Clinton with two, Metz with two, Garcia with two and Beasley with two.
