TJC Dominates Joliet in 14-5 Win
Tyler, TX- TJC erupted for a commanding 14-5 victory over Joliet in today's high-scoring contest. From explosive hits to aggressive base running, the Apaches displayed all-around dominance, with several players stepping up offensively to secure the win.
The game kicked off with some early drama, as TJC took the lead in the first inning. A walk to Gabe Flores scored Zack Zavala, who had reached base after a stolen base. However, Joliet quickly responded, putting together a three-run rally in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. M. Flisk's two-run single helped give the visitors an early advantage.
But TJC wasn't rattled for long. The Apaches answered back in the third inning when Micah Roberts' timely double brought in Levi Risenhoover, cutting the lead to 4-2. Then, in the fourth inning, TJC erupted with a five-run rally.
Dalton Wilson's single brought in Landon Miller to make it 4-3, and after a balk allowed Wilson to reach third, Miller came in to score, tying the game at 4-4. Micah Roberts then blasted a three-run home run, driving in Risenhoover and Wilson to give TJC a 7-4 lead. The scoring continued with a single from Gabe Flores, driving in James Raecek to extend the lead to 8-4.
Joliet added a run in the fifth inning, making it 8-5, but TJC responded with more offensive fireworks. A sacrifice fly from Landon Miller made it 9-5, and then a walk by Risenhoover brought in another unearned run. The Apaches' aggressive base running also added to their lead, with Risenhoover stealing second, Wilson swiping third, and Zavala stealing home to make it 10-5.
TJC's offense didn't slow down. In the sixth inning, Josiah Mackey added a solo home run, making it 12-5. The following inning, Mackey doubled in another run, and Clayton Brandon's single brought in another, extending the lead to 14-5, where it would stay.
On the mound, Brady Baker (1-0) earned the win with 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed just one earned run and struck out a batter. Dillon Davenport, Jackson Jordan, and Jonathan Greve each contributed solid performances, combining for five strikeouts and holding Joliet to just two earned runs.
The Apaches' offense was led by the red-hot Micah Roberts, who finished the game with two hits, five RBIs, a home run, and a double. Josiah Mackey was also a key contributor, with two hits, two RBIs, a home run, and a double. Gabe Flores played a pivotal role as well, recording two hits, including an RBI single.
Base running was another highlight for TJC, as they totaled 13 stolen bases in the game. Zavala and Wilson were particularly aggressive, with Zavala swiping three bags and Wilson stealing two. This aggressive style of play kept constant pressure on the defense and contributed to the offensive outburst.
The Apaches head to Cathrage, Texas, tomorrow to take on the Panola Ponies for a double header at 1 and 3:30 pm.
