#12 Red Ravens Score 63 Points in Second Half to Crush the Pirates of Indy 103-74

Independence, Kan. - The #12 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team came alive in the second half as they defeated their cross-county rivals the Independence Pirates 103-74.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their overall record to 17-4 including a 13-2 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.  The 13-2 KJCCC mark currently has Coffeyville in second place in the 13-team KJCCC Division-I conference.

This matchup was a game of two halves.  The first half had the teams playing close with Independence holding onto a single-point lead (41-40) at halftime.  However, in the second half the Red Ravens blew open the game outscoring the Pirates 63-33 to easily cruise to the 103-74 final victory.

The final stats for the game had Coffeyville leading Indy in shooting percentage (45%-32%), rebounds (47-43), and assists (19-15), while only turning the ball over four times to Indy's eleven.

Coffeyville had six players in double figures on the night with sophomore Brian Griffith leading the way with a game-high 23 points followed by freshman Konstantin Popovic with 16 points.  Freshman Daniel Ntambwe poured in 15 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds while freshman Trenton Ruth had 13 points and freshman Abdul Kuta and sophomore Charles Caporaso both had 10 points each.

The Red Ravens will have the weekend off and will return to action on Wednesday, February 5th, with a home game against the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Nellis Gymnasium.
