The Patriots secured a 6-5 victory in the second game of their doubleheader against Miami-Dade College (7-7, 2-1) on Saturday, earning a series split. The win helped the College of Central Florida salvage one game from the three-game series.

"It was good to get that last game," said Head Coach Marty Smith. "Starting 0-3 in conference would have been a difficult hole to dig out of."

Left fielder Cooper Jones delivered the game-winning moment in the top of the seventh inning, breaking a 5-5 tie with an opposite-field home run—his third of the season.

Jose Paniagua entered in the bottom of the seventh, allowing just one baserunner and securing his first save of the season. Jay Jung (2-0) earned the win, keeping the Sharks scoreless over 2.1 innings while allowing just three hits. It marked Jung's team-leading seventh appearance of the season without surrendering a run.

In game one, Miami-Dade walked off the Patriots in extra innings. Denixon Suarez singled home Willy Mendez with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Sharks the win.

Sophomore Logan Chapman led the Patriots' offense on the day with four hits, including a game-tying home run in the top of the seventh inning of game one.

The Patriots (11-3, 1-2) return home Tuesday to face Tallahassee State College at 2 p.m. before hitting the road to open their next conference series against Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne at 4 p.m.
