Opening Day: Tribs Win In Walk-Off Fashion, 4-3 Over Southeastern CC
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - It came down to the wire on Friday, as Monroe CC grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Southeastern CC. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when Olivia Miles singled, scoring Reagan Bannister to win the game.
Monroe CC opened the scoring in the first after Kaydence Morrissette singled, driving in Jenny Walter.
#3 Emily Gossett singled to right field, which helped Southeastern CC tie the game at one in the top of the third.
Monroe CC took the lead in the bottom of the third. Madalyn Robinson singled, scoring one run, to give Monroe CC the leg up, 2-1.
#5 Jaina Davis singled down the right field line, which helped Southeastern CC tie the game at two in the top of the fourth.
Southeastern CC took the lead in the top of the fifth. #12 Haley Patton singled, scoring one run, to give Southeastern CC the edge, 3-2.
Monroe CC jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Bannister walked, and Miles singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Amanda Linnenbrink led things off in the circle for Monroe CC. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking three. #1 Emily Graham stepped in the circle first for Southeastern CC. The starting pitcher gave up 10 hits and four runs (two earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking four.
Ava Bouchey, Nikki Namisniak, and Jenny Walter each collected two hits for Monroe CC. Bannister, Robinson, Morrissette, and Miles each drove in one run for Monroe CC. Bannister paced Monroe CC with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing four walks for the game.
