
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 12 -ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team held on for a 69-64 victory over Metropolitan Community College Tuesday night at Fred. A. Pohlman Fieldhouse in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Cavaliers (7-1) went on a 20-to-1 run in the first half and led by as many as 19 points in one point, only to see the Wolves make a late push. Johnson County was able to hang on to pick up its first road win of the season and extend their win streak to six straight.
Four of JCCC's starters finished in double figures scoring led by sophomore forward Brandon Mann with 20 points. He was 7-of-12 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. He also had four rebounds and two assists.
Freshman guard Gavin Harvey tallied 12 points followed by freshman forward Tavian Cruse with 11 and freshman guard Joey Robinson with 10. Both Cruse and Robinson had seven rebounds which led the team. The other starter, sophomore guard Steven Samuels contributed six points.
Off the bench, sophomore forward Traeger Rader finished with five points and four boards and sophomore guard Ben Miller added four points.
The Wolves were kept in the game by Devonte Watson who poured in a game-high 30 points. He hit 11-of-18 shots including six 3-pointers.
Johnson County will host Sterling College JV on Friday, November 22 at 6 p.m.
