Cougars Edged Out Seahawks in Thrilling Comeback Victory 70-68
In a dramatic finish, the FCC Cougars women's basketball team secured a hard-fought 70-68 road win over Cecil College on Wednesday evening.
Trailing for much of the game, Frederick's comeback was fueled by an entire team performance across the roster that didn't give up. Jasmine Hardy delivered a monster double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, dominating the paint and providing critical scoring down the stretch. Makayla Wiley showed her range, hitting five three-pointers en route to 18 points. Alaysia Jemmott anchored the defensive effort with a game-high 15 rebounds, contributing eight points and four steals.
Frederick struggled to find an offensive rhythm early, scoring 26 points in the first half. However, a strong second-half surge, including 26 points in the fourth quarter alone, turned the tide in their favor. The Cougars capitalized on defensive stops, forced turnovers, and improved free-throw shooting (68.2%) to close the gap and ultimately seal the win.
The victory improved the Cougars' record to 2-6 overall and 1-4 Region 20 Division 2 contests. The Cougars now focus on their next challenge: a road matchup against the Prince George's Community College Owls on December 13 at 5 PM.
