Mott outlasts No. 17 SC4 in Overtime
FLINT - For the first time this season, the Mott Community College men's basketball team played an overtime game, as the Bears hosted St. Clair County Community College on Wednesday at the Ballenger Fieldhouse.
Trailing by as many as 13 in the second half, the Bears chipped away at the No. 17 Skippers' lead, moving in front 59-58 with nine minutes to play. The teams played back and forth the rest of the way and Mott grabbed a three-point lead in the final minute of regulation after a layup and one from Kevin Tiggs Jr.
SC4 hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 33 seconds on the clock and Mott was forced into a 3-second violation on the ensuing possession. After a half-court attempt from SC4 missed the mark the contest headed to overtime. Leading by one in the final seconds, Kimari Barden hit a layup to extend the lead and the Mott defense held, giving the Bears the 94-89 victory.
The win moves Mott to 15-7 overall and 4-4 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.

Tiggs recorded a career-high 33 points on 12-of-21 shooting. He added a team-high 14 rebounds for a double-double to go along with four assists and four steals.

Teon Armstrong added 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Barden recorded 19 points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Justin Mims chipped in with 16 points and five rebounds.

The Bears shot 37-of-74 from the field, 4-of-16 from deep, and 16-of-21 at the line.
