GRAND RAPIDS — The host Grand Rapids Community College women's basketball team jumped out to a 19-point lead by the end of the first quarter on its way to a 56-40 win over Glen Oaks Wednesday.
The Raiders extended the lead to 24 points by halftime and led by as many as 29 late in the third before GOCC started to get shots to drop in the fourth. The Vikings went on a 12-0 run to start the fourth quarter, which included two 3-pointers by Kennedy Lockett, a basket by Jordyn Partee, another field goal from Lockett, a bucket by Kaytlin Smith and a trey from Amanda Barber.
Lockett, who led the team with 14 points, connected on another triple with 2:59 remaining to cut the deficit to 14 points, but that is as close as the Vikings could get.
Partee finished with nine points and six rebounds, both Jayla Parker-Vincent and Tracy Ackley finished with five points, Smith had four and Barber ended the night with three. Ackley had a team-high 11 rebounds and Smith pulled down eight. Barber chipped in three assists and Smith made three steals.
