
FULTON, MS – The Lady Indians staged an impressive comeback to defeat Northeast Mississippi Community College, 75-68, in front of an energetic crowd at the Davis Event Center on Tuesday.
Despite a slow start, where ICC trailed 30-15 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Indians (13-3, 3-0 MACCC) rallied to close the gap to 50-42 at halftime.
In the third quarter, D'Naylah Williams hit a free throw to tie the game at 59-59 with 37 seconds remaining. I'xana Winters then stole the ball and found Jestiny Dixon for a lay-up, giving the Lady Indians a 69-67 lead with 2:08 left in the game. The Lady Indians finished strong with an 8-1 run to secure their second win of the season against their rivals.
Jestiny Dixon recorded a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Tootie Lockett contributed 18 points and 7 rebounds [video], while I'Xana Winters added 10 points, including two crucial three-pointers late in the second half.
The Lady Indians dominated the boards with a 58-41 rebounding advantage, which was instrumental in their victory.
Northeast's Kamiyha Griffin led all scorers with 23 points. The Lady Tigers moved to 10-8, 2-1 on the season.
