Miami Dade Rallies for 8-7 Victory Over Indian River
The Miami Dade Sharks overcame an early deficit to edge out Indian River State College, 8-7, in a high-scoring battle that featured momentum swings and clutch performances on both sides.
Indian River jumped ahead early, scoring two runs in the first and extending their lead to 4-0 after a two-run homer by Jacob Suazo in the third. But the Sharks responded with a six-run explosion in the bottom half of the inning. Michael Petite sparked the rally with a two-run home run to right field after Cian Copeland reached on an error. Santiago Carriles and Jendy Gonzalez added RBI hits as Miami Dade capitalized on Indian River's defensive miscues to flip the script.
After Indian River tied the game at 6-6 in the fourth, Miami Dade regained control in the bottom half thanks to a clutch two-run double by Carriles, bringing home Copeland and Petite once again. Indian River pulled within one in the fifth, but Miami's bullpen held strong. Andy Mesa earned the win with 2.2 solid innings in relief, while Jeffred Fermin closed the door in the seventh to earn the save.
Offensively, Petite finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a home run, while Carriles drove in two and reached base three times. Gonzalez also delivered with a pair of hits and two RBIs. The Sharks outhit Indian River 11-7 and overcame three errors to secure the tight victory.
