
RAYMOND, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought match at No. 14 Hinds, 2-1, in the NJCAA Region 23 quarterfinal round on Saturday.
The Eagles struck first to take a 1-0 lead over the Indians with 23:29 left in the first half. Shortly after, Brice Nunnery (Clinton) found a window and evened the score at 1-1 going into halftime. After the break, Hinds retook the lead on a free kick with 25:28 left in the contest. The Eagles kept the Indians' chances of an equalizer out of the net in the closing minutes of the match to take the 2-1 victory.
Leander Breidenbruecker (Bizau, Austria) and Niclas Schuzle (Hoersholm, Denmark) each had a shot on goal. William Blake (Fulton) had four saves in front of the net.
The Indians finish the 2024 season 8-6-3 overall and 6-2-3 in conference play.
